There are many different ways you can describe responsibility. Everyone has their own definition of the word. My definition of responsibility is taking blame or telling someone that it was you that made the mistake or that it is your fault. It is hard to describe responsibility in one word, it is many different things combined, well to me it is. When you have responsibility for your actions you could gain trust from someone. Like when your parents say 'You have to be more responsible'. That means they don't trust you with something yet. Also, I think age has much to do with how responsible you are.
If something bad happens to you or maybe even another person, it could end up being your fault. For example, say I rent a book from my English teacher Mr. Juarez and I let my friend Reagan, who is not very responsible, borrow the book and something happens to the book it would be my fault. It was my responsibility to take care of the book that I borrowed even though I didn't do anything to the book. So at the end of the day Reagan would be the one that was getting off easy even though she was the one that damaged the book. I would have to take full responsibility because at the time the book was in my possession, well at least that is what my teacher thought.
Sometimes you just have to step up and take control of the actions that did not go as planned. A lot of the time if you do that people will think 'She/He is taking responsibility, they are maturing fast' or something positive even though you are taking blame for something that is negative. I feel that it depends on the person and how fast they mature but then again someone can be fifty years old and still have no responsibility. It is a trait some people have and some people do not. I have experienced that it is a better to have responsibility than to not.
